Prompt carbon footprint reduction, imported fuel reduction and security of continuous supply of cheap energy are some of the major goals set by the European Commission until 2030. The European Parliament voted on the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 55% of the emissions in 1990. Such an increased target gives rise to changes in the energy efficiency target for 2030 as well.
The building sector is a top priority due to its major energy consumption in Europe. The public building sector is called upon to set an example and immediately implement policies for the decarbonization of energy consumption by 2050.
Attaining such goals requires a particularly large budget that cannot be covered by public resources only. New financial tools are required.
The European project PRODESA investigated and is applying financial models that combine public and private resources to implement energy efficiency projects in five municipalities and more specifically in 116 municipal buildings and streetlighting by replacing 22.000 luminaires.
The Municipality of Alimos (project Coordinator), Ag. Dimitrios, Vari Voula Vouliagmeni, Ag. Anargiri Kamatero and Glyfada collaborated to develop and implement energy efficiency projects by utilizing innovative financial models.
PRODESA organises a webinar to present the methodology used to develop and implement such energy efficiency projects, the financial models, and the different types of energy performance contracts developed.
The webinar includes sessions with representatives from the Ministry of Environment and Energy who will present the policies regarding energy efficiency in the public sector and new financial programs. The webinar is mainly intended for municipalities across the country, public bodies, and practitioners with relevant field of activities.
The webinar will be launched via ZOOM on the 14th of July 2021 from 10:00 to 14:30 and will be repeated on the 21st of July 2021 at the same time in the links below: https://zoom.us/j/93801681464 and https://zoom.us/j/93240253244 respectively.
